MIdwives for Modern Day

What is a midwife?
The word midwife means “with woman”. Certified nurse-midwives or CNM's care for healthy, low-risk women throughout pregnancy, during labor and birth, and the postpartum period. CNM's also care for women throughout the lifespan for annual checkups, family planning, menopause, and common infections and health problems.

Our providers have a variety of backgrounds in neonatal and women's health. We utilize our combined knowledge & experience to empower women to be in control of their own health and wellness. We enable women to use their own innate strength and abilities. Women are intricately and superbly designed to give birth, and it is our job to remind them of this.

Anna’s deep appreciation and passion for midwifery care started while pregnant with her first child. After experiencing the compassionate, holistic, evidence-based care from midwives, she felt the strong calling to become a midwife herself and provide comprehensive women’s healthcare to women and their families in Phoenix, Arizona.
Anna has worked in the healthcare field for 10 years. First, as a certified nursing assistant. She then obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Arizona State University and worked as a registered nurse. As she journeyed through motherhood, the calling to midwifery grew stronger and gained employment with a free-standing birth center. There, the seeds of midwifery care continued to cultivate. She researched programs to obtain her midwifery training and chose the prestigious dual program at Georgetown University. It was here, Anna obtained her Master of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in midwifery and women’s healthcare.
Anna’s faith in God drives her to want to love and care for others to the best of her ability. Through this, Anna recognizes menarche, pregnancy, birth and menopause as natural developmental processes of the woman’s lifespan. She deeply desires to provide women and families respectful and compassionate care, they will feel empowered by. She is excited and grateful to apply her rigorous training and education from Georgetown University as a Certified Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She considers it a privilege and honor to work alongside the gifted, and well-rounded Modern Day Midwives team at Estrella Women’s Health Center.

Karline is a Certified Nurse-Midwife and a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner who received a Master’s of Nursing degree at Georgetown University. Prior to becoming a nurse-practitioner, Karline was a labor and delivery and postpartum nurse for five years at Wyoming Medical Center, which provided her the opportunity to blossom under the guidance of an amazing, dedicated team of doctors and nurses who worked to support a rural population. Through these experiences, Karline was able to learn where her passions were and discovered her ‘Why?’: Serving women through every stage of life, and to assist in bringing beautiful, healthy babies into the world. She has a mission to empower and educate women to take control of their health, as well as uplift and embrace adolescents about gynecologic and obstetric health as they navigate and grow into adult-life. She believes in listening to women, trusting their bodies, and encouraging holistic health in mind, body, and spirit.
Karline loves to be outdoors soaking up sunshine by hiking with her husband, spending time with friends and family, finding awesome treasures at thrift shops, journaling, listening to podcasts, and drinking lots of coffee! She is incredibly excited to be a part of the amazing team at Estrella Women’s Health Center and looks forward to caring for you and your family’s needs.
